Do you mean DOUBLE DOWN OR DUMBING DOWN?

by Arethia Cowden

Its ok that you use your spell check; it shows that you want to be correct when you right someone. Its ok to use a dictionary; you just want to make sure you use your words correctly. Why are so many of us so quick to blame the teachers when books are all around us in hard copy and digital? If you can look up music then you can look up words. Stop dumbing yourself down.
What is wrong with writing with a little intelligence? Why is it ok to just write any kind of way and not feel like one could have done better? I mean I am not afraid to say that I use my spell check all the time and my dictionary is always handy. Why? Because I care about my word choices and how I use them and plus when writing to someone you want them to be able to understand what your expressing to them in writing. And writing letters is so old fashion now; meaning that when was the last time you received a hand written letter from someone? I mean other than a short note of "Can you please go by the store on your way home?" I mean when was the last time you wrote a hand written letter that was a real letter not a short note? To be honest I can say I have written down my dreams and goals the old fashion way a few days ago and wow let me tell you; it felt like a real work out. But at the same time it was fun to see my thoughts written down by my own hands. To see my mistakes and see the beauty in it at the same time made my dreams and goals more real. I suggest you try writing more with the old pen/pencil and paper and see how it makes you feel.
Use resources to make your writing more exciting try using words that you have never used before and expand your knowledge.

"IB has been a great experience, during my year of reign I have used my title to go out and make appearances with my local Kiwanis club. It has given me the opportunity to meet new people and gain new experiences. I have had so much fun being an IB title holder, and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to better themselves through pageantry."
